Music Psychologist | DJ | Founder Kinos Studio
Dr Michelle Ulor (BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD) is a distinguished music psychologist, DJ, and founder of Kinos Studio, the only research-led music psychology consultancy that helps brands, teams, and spaces use music to enhance wellbeing, connection, and impact. Her work blends rigorous academic insight with creative application, making her a leader at the intersection of psychology, music, and innovation.
Named one of Brummell Magazine’s Top 30 Inspirational Women in 2024, Dr Ulor's career spans over a decade across both academia and industry. Her PhD in music and mental health underpins her broader mission to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial application. Through Kinos Studio, she uses a psychology-informed approach to bring music psychology to life through real-world impact, delivering projects across sectors including hospitality, wellness, corporate wellbeing, and tech, and working with organisations such as Soho House, Design Hotels, Lloyds Banking Group, Ministry of Sound and The House of KOKO. From designing relaxing sonic environments for creative health startups and curating identity-enhancing playlists for brands, to delivering interactive team wellbeing sessions rooted in emotion, cognition and connection, Dr Ulor is shaping Kinos Studio as the go-to partner for forward-thinking organisations seeking to use music rooted in research.
Beyond Kinos, Dr Ulor serves as a board member for the Global Wellness Institute’s Music for Health and Wellbeing Initiative, where she contributes to international dialogue around the use of music in health and wellness. She has also supported multiple VC-backed health startups through accelerator programmes, designed investor training programmes for emerging VCs, and advised on initiatives at the intersection of music, tech and wellbeing.
As part of her broader involvement in music, she previously held a six-year residency on NTS Radio, and has written for music platforms including Resident Advisor, Crack Magazine and Truants, establishing herself as a voice in underground music culture. Today, she continues to explore how music can influence how we feel, move, work, and connect, with Kinos Studio as the vehicle for translating that science into strategy and experience.
