Silvia Montello is a senior music industry expert with 35 years’ experience, 20 of them in global leadership positions, including CEO of Association of Independent Music, CEO of Association For Electronic Music, Divisional Director Catalogue Marketing at UMG, Global Recordings SVP at BMG and at Kobalt/AWAL, Head of Operations Audio Network and more.

She is currently on the Executive Board of AFEM, Global Advisory Board for In Place Of War and Chair of charity Last Night A DJ Saved My Life. Silvia is committed to driving a fairer, safer, sustainable and forward-looking music business that gives equal opportunity for everyone creating music and working in the industry, so that regardless of socio-economic background, gender, ethinicity, sexual identity, neurodiversity or disability, great talent has the chance to make a living from what they do best.

Working through the seismic industry shifts of the last 35 years, Silvia now run Voicebox Consulting to provide strategic and commercial expertise, business development, and a range of services for the music industry of the present and future, particularly supporting independent artists, labels, industry professionals and music tech start-ups. A lot needs to change in the music industry of 2025 to make sure that the people creating the music we love are at the top of the pyramid, not the bottom, and they can grow and succeed with the support of genuine music industry people who are in it for the right reasons.
