Matthias Strobel Hohmann founded MusicTech Germany, the Federal Association for Music Technology in Germany, in 2017. It was the world’s first music technology association. Since then, he has served as its President. He is also Co-Founder and Vice-President of Music Tech Europe. In this capacity, he is a central point of contact in Germany for innovation across the entire music sector.

He is also the founder and director of MUSIC FRONTIERS.

He works as a consultant, mentor, and independent advisor, supporting startups and organizations in advancing forward-looking approaches at the intersection of music, technology, and entrepreneurship. Committed to unlocking the innovative potential and thereby the long-term success of artists and businesses, he draws on extensive experience and an international network to help shape the music ecosystem of the future.

Matthias Strobel is a lecturer at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University, where he teaches music technology innovation with a focus on Berlin and its global context.

He also leads workshops on innovation for the music ecosystem, curates international conferences, and facilitates events designed to foster knowledge exchange among visionaries across the creative industries. His Berlin Music Tech Meetups have grown into a vibrant community of more than 2,500 music and music-tech professionals and enthusiasts. Since 2024, he has also organized MUSIC FRONTIERS, a forward-thinking conference dedicated to exploring new visions and solutions for the evolution of music and its industry.

Strobel also serves as a judge and mentor for several of Europe’s leading startup competitions and accelerator programs in music technology.
